Do I have to install special software to start using on-line services?
No. All communication between the lawyer and the client is conducted via a web interface. All you need is a regular web browser. You do not need to install any additional software.
What web browsers can I use to view the site properly?
For optimal performance, use Netscape Navigator 5.0, Internet Explorer 6.0, or above. The website is designed for a screen resolution setting of 800x600 pixels.
How are access rights and security managed?
The e-Advokacie on-line system is built on JavaTM 2, Enterprise Edition. This technology minimizes the chance of unauthorized access to information. You can find more information about this technology on the Sun Microsystems website.
Our website also uses full 128-bit SSL encryption, ensuring the security of confidential information. The Thawte trusted Site Seal indicates that an SSL session has been initiated, indicating the safe and uninterrupted transmission of any data.
Is it possible to run my on-line services from different operating systems other than Microsoft Windows?
Yes, access to our on-line services is provided via a regular web browser regardless of the type of operating system used.
Using the system
Is it possible to cancel my account?
Unfortunately not, as according to Czech law an advocate is obliged to store all documents he has acquired in connection with provision of legal services. These documents including the client’s file must be archived for a minimum of five years. However, your information will not be used for any other purposes than those they were acquired for. Advocates are obliged to hold in confidence all information obtained in connection with the provision of legal services.
I have forgotten my password. What should I do?
For security reasons only the client knows his password and lawyers do not have access to client’ passwords. Please use caution in disclosing your password to others. Please contact us via email if you forget your password.
What happens when two users try to log into one account simultaneously?
The user who logged on first will be automatically logged off, and the user who logged on second will remain logged on. This situation can be prevented by creating more user accounts for one client.
How do I know that there is a new document ready for me in the system?
You will be notified via email about all new documents or messages held in the system.
In which document format should I attach documents? In which document format will I receive documents?
Documents can be uploaded to the system in all most common document formats, specifically .doc, .rtf, .txt, .pdf, .sxw, .stw. If you intend to attach a document in other formats, please contact your lawyer first. Your documents will be prepared in whichever format you request. If you do not specify a format, we will use either a .doc or .pdf format.
I mistakenly closed the communication window (instant messaging window) while communicating with my lawyer. What should I do?
First you will need to refresh your main web browser window. A hyperlink to the communication in progress will be displayed in the left column of the main window (in the “Communications“ section). After clicking on this link you will be redirected to a page giving you the option to re-open the communication in progress.
My lawyer uploaded for me a new document into the system during our online communication,but the document is not being displayed

Legal services
How do you use my personal information?
Your personal information will be used solely in connection with the legal services provided by our office and will not be disclosed to third parties. According to Czech law advocates are obliged to hold in confidence all information acquired in connection with the provision of legal services.
Is it possible to obtain simple advice from your law firm without being represented by you in a case?
Yes, of course. You can find our office address in the "Contacts" section of this website. To arrange a meeting please contact a lawyer first.

How do I pay for services received?
You can discuss the payment method with your lawyer first. The standard payment method is a regular bank transfer. Please remember that it can take days or weeks before bank transfers from banks outside the Czech Republic are settled. We will send you a confirmation via e-mail as soon as we receive your payment.
The user interface uses an on-line payment system provided by eBanka, a.s. It is also possible to pay by Visa and MasterCard cards via the Česká spořitelna, a.s. E-commerce 3D-Secure system. Please be aware that only embossed cards can be accepted.
Do I have to make an advance payment before I am able to use the on-line services or before my registration?
No. Registration in the system and communication with a lawyer is free of charge. A fee is only charged if legal services are provided to you.
What format will the receipt/invoice (tax document) be in?
We can provide you with the standard tax document confirming your payment in electronic or paper form. Additional changes to these documents can be arranged with your lawyer.
