Regulation on Unjustified Geo-Blocking

New article regarding Regulation (EU) 2018/302 on addressing unjustified geo-blocking and other forms of discrimination was published on our website. The Regulation addresses access to online interface of an e-shop, prohibition of different terms of business for customers from various countries of the EU, and prohibition of discrimination for reasons relating to payment for goods or services. The protocols work to limit discrimination based on nationality, place of residence, or place of establishment in cross-border online transactions.

Masek, Koci, Aujezdsky Advises on Acquisition of Tapito

Partner Josef Aujezdsky of Masek, Koci, Aujezdsky lead the team that advised Livesport on its acquisition of Tapito from former owner Bolt Start Up Development a.s. Tapito is a tech start-up that operates an application that aggregates news, magazines, and blogs. Livesports added Tapito to its roster of websites and applications that covers thirty-eight sports and serves approximately 85 million monthly users. Financial details were not disclosed.

MKA Advises on Acquisition of Pragosport

Masek, Koci, Aujezdsky advised Livesport on its acquisition of Pragosport. Pragosport specializes in the acquisition of and dissemination of media rights, including TV rights, internet rights, mobile rights, streaming rights, and rights to betting. Pragosport works with sponsors who utilize the platforms to market to consumers and further use media rights for sponsorship projects. Pragosport currently owns among others the television rights to the Czech Republic’s first and second football leagues through 2024. Financial details were not disclosed.

MKA Advised Livesport on its Acquisition of a Significant Stake in Liftago

Partners Josef Aujezdsky and Ondej Bahnik of Masek, Koci, and Aujezdsky led Livesport’s acquisition of 15 shareholders’ stakes in Liftago. The team further organized a subscription of newly-issued shares in connection with the increase of the company’s registered capital for Livesport. Liftago has provided a ride-hailing app for iOS and Android and operates in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia since 2012. The company serves over 300’000 customers and works with thousands of companies. Livesport operates as a tech company that delivers sports results and statistics. They serve over 85 million monthly users and operate apps that have been downloaded over 50 million times. Upon its completion, over 90 percent of Liftago’s shares will be owned by Livesport and Liftago founders Martin Hausenblas, Juraj Atlas, and Ondej Kratky.
